Conversion to Judaism is kinda codified (in that there are lots of books and online resources about it), but it kind of isn’t. This is especially true in regards to conversion to Orthodox Judaism where the experiences from convert to convert vary greatly.
One of the things that I wish I had when I was converting is a means to communicate with other converts. I have been a member of a Yahoo group for Orthodox Jewish converts since 2005. However it’s an email listserve that is tightly moderated. Also there can be no input or discussion regarding non-Orthodox conversions.
In the last couple of months, I discovered two great web forums (off-shoots of the former “JewsByChoice.org” site): Gerei Tzedek and Jewish By Choice. Both forums are open to converts and potential converts from all walks of life and backgrounds. I’ve joined both, and have really been impressed with the discussions and range of topics. So if you’re interested, check them out!
