Stating the Obvious: Jerusalem Is The Capital of Israel

Earlier this month POTUS made the announcement that the U.S. will officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Now, this actually is not a recent development. The U.S. Congress voted to do this back in 1995, but previous presidents have signed a waiver that would delay the implementation of this act (called the ‘Jerusalem Embassy Act’).

Now it is no secret that I am not a fan of President Trump; but I applaud this ballsy move. It does right by Israel and one of the truly disgusting things about politics is that there is a lot of talk, but little action to back up that talk. If anything, President Trump has shown himself to be a man of actions…I will give him that.

As with most news stories nowadays, I just sat back and watched the comments and arguments fly around about this issue. Unfortunately the Jewish community remains just as divided as ever on this topic. Things had died down until the U.N. had their vote on the issue. It is no real surprise that most of the world disagrees and choose to side against Israel. But the hypocrisy of some of these countries is appalling; and it’s not just me that thinks so.

Now I’m not going to sugar coat this, and call this ‘anti-Israel bias’…but rather outright antisemitism. The Jews and their state are what everyone loves to gang up on against and hate. Trust me, it is not like this hate is anything new. But nowadays it is readily accessible and apparent; and yet still so much of the world is still blind to it.

This past week I’ve been binge watching Dr. Quinn – Medicine Woman on Amazon Prime Video . In season 2 there is an episode where Dr. Quinn runs for mayor. The town’s lone Black male resident scoffs at the idea that a woman can be the town mayor. His own (Black) wife reminds him that they just fought and won a war (the Civil War) to reaffirm the notion of equality in the United States. Even so he is unmoved…and in trying to be more like the White men in town, is quick to join with them to restrict the rights of women. To me, it immediately struck me as ridiculous.

If only all of those dissenting U.N. countries felt the same 🙁
